This figure is alarming, keeping in view the fact that fatal road accidents in the UAE are a major road safety concern for traffic authorities.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0H8EJJU81Ro?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Major Findings of the New Survey by RoadSafetyUAE and QIC Insured<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest survey conducted by RoadSafetyUAE and QIC Insured brings into consideration some important facts which highlight the<strong> lack of awareness and understanding <\/strong>about the child safety amongst the motorists in the UAE. The fundamental findings of the survey report reveal that <strong>34% of the motorists <\/strong>in the UAE <em>don\u2019t really give importance to the child seats<\/em> and don\u2019t consider it as an essential safety feature for their children. This is basically the first part of the two-part survey conducted by \u201cRoadSafetyUAE\u201d and \u201cQIC Insured\u201d and <strong>1,000 respondents were included <\/strong>in the first part.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Listed below were the major findings of the survey:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>34% of the motorists don\u2019t have child safety seats<\/strong> or booster cushions in their cars.<\/li>\n<li>Among the 66% motorists who had proper safety seats for kids in their cars, <strong>30% do not ask their children to buckle-up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>42% <\/strong>young parents <strong>don\u2019t ask their kids to wear seat belts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emiratis top the list <\/strong>of motorists who don\u2019t have child safety seats in their cars with a percentage of <strong>47%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Based on Age, <strong>42%<\/strong> <strong>of the respondents<\/strong> of the survey aged between <strong>18 and 29 didn\u2019t have child safety seats installed in their cars<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>44% of the motorists <\/strong><em>never really asked all the passengers of their cars to buckle-up<\/em>, highlighting the need for building an understanding about the importance of seatbelts.<\/li>\n<li>Only<strong> 11% of the adults buckled-up<\/strong> while sitting in the <strong>rear seats<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>55% of the passengers<\/strong> at the back seat felt safe without using seat belts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These were the fundamental findings of the survey, and while giving his opinion on the state of road safety in the UAE, Thomas Edelmann, who is the founder of RoadSafetyUAE suggested that it is important to understand the reasons given by motorists for not installing child seats in their cars. Only by understanding these reasons authorities can help address the concerns of motorists and find a way to maximize child safety in cars.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Detailed Findings of the Survey Reveal Why Motorists Don\u2019t Use Child Safety Seats<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The survey also explored the reasons for not using child safety seats and there were different reasons that came to light.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following were the detailed findings of the survey highlighting the reasons given by motorists for not installing child safety seats in their cars:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>29% <\/strong>of the motorists<strong> find child safety seats too expensive<\/strong> to install in their cars.<\/li>\n<li><strong>15%<\/strong> of motorists think it is <strong>safer if a passenger of the cars holds a child<\/strong> than the use of child safety seats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>28% felt children get agitated<\/strong> being strapped in.<\/li>\n<li><strong>25%<\/strong> of motorists didn\u2019t know <strong>where they could buy the child safety seats<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>7% of motorists had religious reasons<\/strong> to avoid the use of seat belts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>15% believed they could remain careful <\/strong>in order to avoid an accident so they didn\u2019t need the child safety seats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>11% <\/strong>motorists didn\u2019t use child safety seats as they <strong>felt these safety seats couldn\u2019t protect <\/strong>their child.<\/li>\n<li><strong>37% <\/strong>motorists didn\u2019t want to use child seats because they thought child safety seats were<strong> not needed for short trips<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5% <\/strong>of motorists just rejected the use of child safety seats as they <strong>didn\u2019t<\/strong> <strong>find it relevant to their culture<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The analysis of the reasons given by motorists for not using child safety seats and seat belts highlights concerns of motorists. The new rules will be implemented from <strong>July 1, 2017,<\/strong> and motorists not complying with the amended rules could be penalized with <strong>strict fines and black points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Listed below will be the new rules in this regard:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Motorists <strong>must have child safety seats<\/strong> in their car for <strong>children under 4 years of age<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seatbelts will be mandatory<\/strong> for driver and passengers of <strong>front and back seats<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Any passenger with a <strong>height below 145cm<\/strong> will <strong>not be allowed to sit in the front seat<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Passengers in the front seat<strong> must not be<\/strong> <strong>aged below 10 years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These child safety rules are essential as they ensure the safety of children and anyone not obeying these rules can face serious penalties once these rules are implemented in Dubai. According to the new rules, a <strong>fine of AED 400 per passenger<\/strong> could be faced by motorists for not using seatbelts while driving.
